Affordable Housing for Families in Bay Point – Grand Opening of Bella Monte Apartments Contact: Annette Richards (510) 841-4410 ext. 10 On Thursday, January 19th, Resources for Community Development and Contra Costa County will hold a Grand Opening celebration for the Bella Monte Apartments located at 2410 Willow Pass Road in Bay Point, CA. A short ceremony and reception will be held for residents and guests at the site between 3:00 and 5:00 pm.
The Bella Monte Apartments, 52 units of affordable housing for low-income families, are part of a high quality, mixed-income residential community on the formerly County-owned nine acre parcel in Bay Point. A partnership between RCD and the O’Brien Group, a private developer, transformed this former auto salvage yard into a signature development, complete with new streets, sidewalks, sewer lines and traffic lights.
RCD’s multi-family portion of the development provides 52 units of affordable rental apartments consisting of one, two and three bedroom units. In addition, Bella Monte Apartments have an onsite childcare center run by the Pittsburg Preschool and Community Council. The O’Brien group developed 69 units of detached and attached single family for-sale homes on the western edge of the development. The result is a stunning display of townhouse-style architecture that reinforces the neighborhood identity and accentuates the goals and features desired by the community.
Speakers at the opening will include Contra Costa County Supervisor Federal Glover, Maureen Toms of the Contra Costa County Redevelopment Agency, Debra Mason of Bay Point PAC and Dan Weadle from the National Equity Fund.
RCD is an experienced nonprofit developer of affordable housing serving the East Bay with the mission of creating and preserving affordable housing for people with the fewest options. Founded in 1984, RCD has a portfolio of 1,041 units that serve very low and low-income households and special needs groups, including homeless, people with disabilities, survivors of domestic violence and people living with HIV/AIDS.
Funding for the Bella Monte Apartments was provided by Contra Costa County Redevelopment Agency, Contra Costa County HOME, CDBG, and HOPWA funds, US Bank, the State Multi-Family Housing Program, the Federal Home Loan Bank Affordable Housing Program and equity from the National Equity Fund.
