Oakland,
CA Resources for Community Development was selected to develop 80 units of permanent affordable housing in downtown Oakland in response to a competitive “Request for Proposals” issued by the City of Oakland Redevelopment Agency. RCD is working in collaboration with an amazing team of Oakland-based experts in the field to create a development that truly reflects the needs of the community. The Fox Courts project will provide approximately 80 permanent affordable town homes and apartments for families, individuals, seniors, and artists with incomes ranging between 30% and 60% of the Area Median Income. Over 50% of the units will be three and four bedroom units. The proposed building will provide town homes, flats, and lofts surrounding two common courtyards and embody green building design and materials. A childcare center will occupy the ground floor, directly across the street from the neighborhood park and will have direct access to a play area in one courtyard. A community room, children’s art learning space, and computer room will flank the courtyards. The offices will accommodate an on-site manager and service coordinator. The entire building will be accessible by elevator. Laundry will be provided on site. All units will be computer-ready. Parking for cars and bicycles will be located in the underground garage. The design is intended to maximize livability, sustainability, safety and security, and neighborhood integration.
