The Breakers at Bayport Apartments

Alameda, CA
52 town homes for very low- and low-income families; 10 single family homes for low-income families (for sale)
1, 2 and 3 bedroom town homes and flats
Completed 2006

Resources for Community Development opens a new affordable housing development in Bayport Alameda. The 87-acre master-planned community will include 485 residential units built by ProLogis and Warmington Home California, a four-acre neighborhood park, a seven-acre school, and four 1/2 acre mini-parks.

The Breakers at Bayport Apartments and Townhomes consists of 52 residential units serving low-income families, and 10 affordable for-sale townhomes serving moderate-income families. The 52-unit development is fully leased, and sales of the 10 townhomes project are finalized. The apartment complex consists of 34 two-bedrooms and 18 three-bedroom apartments, with community and recreational space located on-site. The townhomes are all three-bedroom units with over 1,450 square feet of living space. The rental units are reserved for very low- and low-income families earning between 35-60% of the area median income. The for-sale component of the project is for first-time homebuyers earning up to 100% of area median income. Four of the rental units are universally designed making the environments more usable by as many people as possible, regardless of age, ability or situation, and without the need for adaptation or specialized design.
