Built in 1914, the Harrison Hotel, located in downtown Oakland, suffered from extensive deferred maintenance before RCD's acquisition of the property. RCD's rehabilitation preserved and upgraded the building's 81 single room occupancy (SRO) units, which are now affordable to very low-income and physically disabled individuals. The scope of rehabilitation included a full seismic upgrade of the building and substantial renovation of the heating, electrical and plumbing systems, including a new elevator, sprinkler system and major reconfiguration of the residential floors.
