Pittsburg, CA RCD was selected by the City of Pittsburg to develop Los Medanos Village, a 3.25 acre site that will provide affordable rental opportunities for 71 families, with five of the units set aside for emancipated foster youth. Seven three-story buildings cluster around three open space areas, allowing every unit to look out onto the open space. Accessible ground floor units will have split-level townhouses above, in a mix of one, two and three-bedrooms. Two children’s play areas are incorporated into the open space plan and low fences between the buildings will serve to keep young children safely within the complex. Front porches and walkways to the street will enhance safety and a sense of community as well. The community building at the corner of Crestview Road and Frontage Drive will provide a gathering space with an outdoor patio and picnic/BBQ area, as well as a large computer lab and property management and resident service offices. A community garden is planned at Frontage Road and Marsh Avenue. Located in close proximity to Pittsburg Civic Center, schools, parks, public transit stops, and the freeway, Los Medanos Village offers seniors, youth, and families quality affordable housing and services that build community and enrich lives.
